Portland Basebed
Portland Basebed is the cleanest Portland stone due to its low shell content, small grain size and cream to white appearance in colour. It is typically used for carvings as its low shell content means it is a softer stone to carve. It can be used for general applications but due to the stones softness it should be avoided to use it for applications that are susceptible to weathering and abrasion.
Variety
Please note due to stone being a natural material it is prone to having a variety of appearances based on its colour and texture. If you have received any samples from us we recommend that they remain an accurate representation of what is currently being quarried for two months. If your samples are older than two months then they may not accurately represent what is being produced at this point in time and we recommend that you contact us to arrange for a new sample.
