BATH STONE

Bath is an oolitic limestone which formed during the Jurassic period. It was formed by tiny grains of sand and shell fragments being rolled around a shallow sea floor and this built up layers of calcium carbonate around the grain to became ooliths. These ooliths which  built up over time to form the beds known today as Bath stone.

At Ranco we mainly use the following three types of Bath stone called Stoke Ground, Hartham Park and Park Lane
